MasterPlasma, Plasma Fractionation Facility

KeyPlants’ experience in design and engineering of plasma products technologies was a key factor in Master Plasma/Pharmstandard’s selection of us to deliver the Conceptual and Basic Design, process simulation, and production scheduling of a 4,500-sqm bulk manufacturing and aseptic filling facility for recombinant plasma products.

The Recombinant Plasma Protein Purification System (PPPS) technology for fractionation and aseptic filling of eight plasma-derived products (incl. FVIII, FIX, and FII) was based on a transfer and scale-up of ProMetic’s proprietary technology.

“At the time, PPPS technology was absolutely new, which was one challenge," recalls Anders Sjödin, Senior Project Manager at KeyPlants. “The other main challenge was to scale up the process from pilot plant scale to the 600,000-litre scale”

The project was completed in 2016.
